Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has conceded his future remains in the club’s hands but says he doesn’t want to waste another season on the bench as Romelu Lukaku closes in on a return to Stamford Bridge.
Batshuayi only joined Chelsea from Marseille last season in a staggering deal worth £33m but the 23-year-old failed to make any impression after being forced to spend the season as Diego Costa’s understudy.
Antonio Conte’s side are on the verge of re-signing Lukaku in a deal that could reportedly break the £80m mark and the Everton striker’s arrival would only limit Batshuayi’s first-team opportunities further.
Batshuayi is currently on international duty with Belgium alongside Lukaku and the Chelsea striker is expecting to receive a few phone calls from other clubs this summer as he looks for regular first-team football next season.
“I’m not the master of my destiny,” Batshuayi told RMC, via London Evening Standard. “Chelsea bought me, they can do what they want with me.
“I’m going to finish with the national team and then I expect I’ll have a few phone calls. I’ll see with my agent and the club. I want to play, score as many goals as possible and be at the World Cup.”
Batshuayi made 20 appearances in the Premier League last season but 19 of those came as a substitute appearance from the bench.
However, of players that scored at least five goals in the Premier League last season, Batshuayi required the fewest minutes per goal in the division (1 every 47.8 minutes of action).
