Newcastle United are considering a sensational move for former striker Andy Carroll, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Magpies sold Carroll to Liverpool for £35m in January 2011, but the 26-year-old’s career has been savaged with reoccurring injuries.
The former England international only made the move to West Ham permanently in 2013, but is in danger of being left behind by the Hammers as they develop a new style under Slaven Bilic.
Newcastle are still trying to recover from their turgid start to the season and Steve McClaren is reportedly keen to bring the frontman back to St. James’ Park in a bid to leapfrog up the table.
Since making the permanent switch to West Ham, Carroll has started in less than 30% of a possible 88 league matches (26).
