Midfielder wants new Manchester United contract

Nemanja Matic has signalled he wants to extend his Manchester United contract just weeks after his career at Old Trafford looked over.

Matic has entered the final six months of his current United deal and was expected to be sold this month with Serie A outfit Inter keen.

The Serbia international had dropped out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and seemingly not part of the United manager's long-term vision for the club.

However, Matic has developed into a key player for the Red Devils in the last month with the likes of Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba out injured.

Matic is enjoying life again at United and has even expressed a desire to renew with the Premier League giants, though will not lose sleep if he leaves in the summer.

"I've got a contract until the end of the season," he told The Guardian. "I'm at Carrington every day and open to talks if they think I can help, but if not life will go on.

"No discussions have happened yet, but my position is clear. It is a pleasure to represent the club, I came here to win things and if they want me to stay then of course I'll give my best to try and win trophies."
