Juventus director Beppe Marotta has confirmed Patrice Evra is considering his future at the club after he was left out of the squad that beat Bologna 3-0 on Sunday evening.
Evra, 35, has been heavily linked with a return to Manchester United this month, while a move to Valencia has also been mooted.
The France international has dropped down the pecking order this season after finally being overtaken at left-back by Alex Sandro and Marotta has now confirmed Evra is in fact weighing up his future with the reigning Serie A champions.
“Evra is still with us. He was not called up by mutual agreement, as he is considering his future,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium, via The Guardian.
“It’s only right he’s taking a moment to reflect, as his contract will expire in June, he is 35 years old going towards 36. We’ll see next week. I don’t think we need to find a replacement, as we have internal options like Kwadwo Asamoah and Federico Mattiello.”
The experienced left-back has spent most of the season becoming an internet sensation through his social media accounts rather than on the pitch for Juventus and any return to Old Trafford - where he spent eight years before joining Juventus in 2014 - has been reported to be as part of Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff.
Evra has only featured in 247 minutes of league action this season, which is less than half the time he has been given in the Champions League this term (501 mins).
