Everton enter race to sign Chelsea striker

Everton want to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as Ronald Koeman intensifies the club’s search for a new frontman, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Toffees have already spent more than £125m on new players this summer but are still looking to land a new striker to replace Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United in July.

Everton, who have already signed Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez this summer, have failed in their attempts to sign Olivier Giroud and Diego Costa and are now lining up a bid for Batshuayi.

The Belgium international has endured a disastrous 12 months at Chelsea after joining from Marseille in a deal worth in excess of £30m last summer.

However, Everton’s pursuit hinges almost entirely on whether Chelsea are able to sign Swansea striker Fernando Llorente.

Antonio Conte’s side have been favourites to land the Spanish striker all summer but are in danger of missing out on the 32-year-old to Tottenham.

Batshuayi has made 23 Premier League appearances for Chelsea since the start of last season, but only two of those have been starts. He has scored five goals and registered one assist in that time.
