Inter are considering using former captain Andrea Ranocchia as bait in a deal that would see Sampdoria striker Eder join Roberto Mancini’s side, according to Calciomercato.
Ranocchia is widely expected to leave the San Siro this month with the defender hopeful of forcing his way back into the Italy squad for the European Championship’s in the summer.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Norwich and Liverpool reportedly interested in his services.
However, both could be set to miss out if Inter opt to use Ranocchia as leverage in a deal to sign Eder from Sampdoria.
Mancini’s men failed to sign the Sampdoria frontman over the summer and would need to cough up £7.4m in order to sign the 29-year-old outright. However, Financial Fair Play restrictions may impede their ability to do so and Ranocchia would certainly lower the price.
Inter’s interest in Eder is understandable as Mancini looks to add more goals to his frontline. Since the start of the season, only Gonzalo Higuain (16) has scored more than Eder (11) in Serie A.
