Stoke City have £15m bid for new striker accepted

Stoke City have moved a step closer to landing long-term target Saido Berahino after having a £15m bid accepted by West Brom.

Berahino, 23, has been looking to leave West Brom since the start of last season and is now on the verge of securing a long-anticipated move away from the Hawthorns.

Tony Pulis has dealt relatively harshly with the England Under-21 international having deemed Berahino unfit for almost the whole season and the Baggies have now confirmed Stoke are now free to discuss terms with the young striker.

“West Bromwich Albion can confirm the club has today agreed a deal with Stoke City with Saido Berahino,” a statement read on West Brom’s official website.

“As a result, Albion have given Stoke permission to open talks with Berahino about a potential move to the Bet365 Stadium.”

Berahino has been limited to relatively little game time in the last two campaigns and hasn’t even been allowed to train with the West Brom first team for the majority of this season.

Stoke failed in their attempts to land Berahino last season but now appear close to securing his services, which will provide them with a huge boost with Peter Crouch their only recognised striker available at the moment.

Despite only making four league appearances this season, Berahino has still scored at least seven more league goals than any other West Brom player in the last four campaigns (23).
