New Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is spearheading the club’s transfer plans this summer and is eyeing a move for Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, claims The Daily Mail.
The Gunners prised Mislintat away from Borussia Dortmund in November and he has already had a major impact at the club during his short time at the club.
Arsenal signed former Dortmund duo Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and are now eyeing further reinforcements from Germany.
Arsene Wenger’s side entered the race to sign Liverpool target Kerem Demirbay from Hoffenheim earlier this week and now Soyuncu has emerged as a target for the north London outfit.
Mislintat has been monitoring the Turkey international’s progress all season and talks have taken place about firming up Arsenal’s interest with a bid for the £30m-rated defender.
The 21-year-old has been a first-team regular for Freiburg since the start of last season, making 45 appearances out of a possible 72 in the league.
In that time, Soyuncu has made at least 88 more clearances than any other team-mate in the Bundesliga.
