Real Madrid’s Ramos talks up Mbappe move

Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos has talked up a summer move for Monaco hotshot Kylian Mbappe.

The teenage striking sensation earned his first international cap in France’s 3-1 win over Luxembourg over the weekend and it seems as though the only way is up for Mbappe.

A host of Europe’s top teams are said to be monitoring his progress, with the 18-year-old scoring more league goals (12) than any other teenager in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Real Madrid are thought to be leading the race to sign the France international from Monaco, with Ramos now insisting that the club’s ‘gates are always open’ for players of Mbappe's ilk.

"I do not call the president [Florentino Perez] to consult me about signings, but the gates of Real Madrid are always open for the best players," Ramos is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"If you come to Madrid, Mbappe, we will welcome you with all the affection as we always do with the new players who arrive."

Ramos, though, added that is would disrespectful to his current teammates to talk about Mbappe moving to Spain, saying: "Right now it's a lack respect for those in the squad to get us talking about others who are not from the club."

Ramos could come up against Mbappe when France play Spain on Tuesday night.
