Sevilla rule themselves out the running for United goalkeeper
Sevilla have confirmed they have no interest in signing Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes.
Valdes, 33, has been cast to train with reserve teams since the end of last season after falling out with manager Louis van Gaal.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper has been linked with a return to Spain and Monaco, although it is believed he would prefer to remain in the Premier League.
“Valdes is not an option. We have no intention of finding goalkeeping cover,” Sevilla’s president Jose Castro is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
“We have three of four players for that position and Sergio Rico is the one closest to keeping it for many years.
“If we have good keepers, we don’t have to go looking elsewhere for them.”
The ex-Spain international penned a 18-month deal with United in January, but isn’t ever likely to build on his measly 106 minutes of action for the Red Devils.
