Griezmann does not regret staying at Atletico Madrid

Antoine Griezmann insists he does not regret staying at Atletico Madrid this season despite struggling for form.

The France international opted against joining Manchester United in the summer after Atletico failed to overturn their FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

Griezmann signed a bumper new deal as a reward for his loyalty but the 26-year-old has come in for heavy criticism this season for his underwhelming performances.

However, the Atletico No.7 insists he has no regrets about his decision to stay and has faith Diego Simeone’s side will rediscover their best form in January when Diego Costa and Vitolo are free to play.

“I don't regret staying at Atleti,” he told Telefoot, via AS. “It was my decision and I’m happy with what I chose to do – even if I have gone seven games without scoring.

“No,” he responded when asked if he could leave in January. “And besides, Diego Costa and Vitolo will both be able to play so we are trying to keep the team’s performance levels high and those two reinforcements will do us good.

“Me leaving? I haven’t spoken to the president about that.”

Griezmann is currently without a goal in more than 12 hours of football for Atletico, while Simeone’s side have not scored more than once in a single game since September.
