Middlesbrough have announced they have signed Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite despite interest from several Premier League sides.
Braithwaite was heavily linked with a £12m move to Brighton and Bournemouth earlier this month but Middlesbrough, who were relegated down to the Championship last season, have won the race for the Denmark international.
The 26-year-old completed his medical with Middlesbrough on Thursday and has now put pen to paper on a four-year deal as Garry Monk makes his third signing as manager of the Riverside club.
Braithwaite scored 22 goals in 39 Ligue 1 appearances over the last two Ligue 1 campaigns, which is all the more impressive considering Toulouse have spent that time battling relegation.
However, of players that have scored 10 Ligue 1 goals in that time only Toulouse team-mate Andy Delort (9.4%) has a worse conversion rate than Braithwaite (10.7%) of all strikers.
