Pep Guardiola insists he is yet to move for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Manchester City have been linked with a move for a new centre-back in January for the Saints defender reportedly high on the club’s most wanted list.
Manchester United and Liverpool have both emerged s potential destinations for Van Dijk, whose Saints performances have not gone unnoticed.
Reports suggest that City will move for the 25-year-old when the transfer window re-opens next month, but Guardiola has since denied that his side have made their move for the Netherlands international.
"Next month, Van Dijk here?" Guardiola is quoted as saying by Sky Sports when asked on a potential move for the Dutchman.
"We're going to Southampton to play against them (in April). He's not going to come here next month. Impossible."
When asked why, Guardiola added: "Because he's a Southampton player and we don't want him now."
Van Dijk’s current WhoScored rating (7.53) is enough for him to feature in the Premier League team of the season.
