Lo Celso wants Tottenham move

Giovani Lo Celso is desperate to join Tottenham but the Premier League outfit will not match Real Betis’ asking price, claims The Sun.

Tottenham had a bid for Lo Celso rejected right at the start of the transfer window before switching their focus to Tanguy Ndombele.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side shattered their club-transfer record to prise Ndombele away from Lyon and remain keen on landing Lo Celso.

Betis only made Lo Celso’s loan switch from Paris Saint-Germain permanent in April but are ready to cash in on the Argentina international.

The Spanish side are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal with Lyon for their captain Nabil Fekir, which will be announced after Lo Celso secures a move away.

Lo Celso has his heart set on a transfer to Tottenham but could miss out on a move unless Betis reduce their valuation of the 23-year-old.

Betis only paid €22m (£19.8m) to sign Lo Celso at the end of last season and are now holding out for as much as £60m for the versatile midfielder.

With Christian Eriksen free to leave Tottenham this summer after entering the final 12 months of his current deal, Pochettino is on the market for a new creative player and Lo Celso fits the bill.

The Argentine played a direct hand in 13 goals in 32 league appearances for Betis last season (nine goals, four assists) and won the WhoScored Man of the Match award four times.

Furthermore, of players that made at least five Europa League appearances last season, Lo Celso was the highest WhoScored rated player in the competition (7.80).
