Real Madrid open talks with agent of European striker

Real Madrid have started talks with Romelu Lukaku’s representatives regarding a summer move, according The Sun, via 101 Great Goals.

Lukaku, 22, has been in sensational form for Everton this season even though the Toffees have hugely underachieved in the league thus far.

The Belgium international is expected to be subject to intense transfer speculation in the summer, particularly as it looks Everton will miss out on European football altogether next season, and Madrid are seemingly trying to pip their rivals to his signature.

Everton can now certainly afford to keep Lukaku at Goodison Park following their lucrative takeover at the end of last month, but the allure of Madrid and Champions League football would surely prove too much for the former Chelsea striker to ignore.

Madrid have reportedly scouted Lukaku on five separate occasions this season and any move to the Bernebau would leave Karim Benzema up for grabs, according to the report.

Lukaku is already enjoying his most prolific league campaign (18) and has scored more goals from openplay than any other player in the Premier League this season (15). He is also only five goals shy of making it 30 for the season when you factor in his involvement in the two domestic cup competitions this season (25 goals).
