Everton leading the race to sign £28.5m-rated Belgian

Everton are in pole position to sign Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Alex Witsel in a deal worth £28.5m, reports The Daily Mirror.

Witsel, 27, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Russian giants this summer and has been closely tracked by a number of Premier League clubs as well as Napoli and Roma.

The Belgium international featured heavily for Marc Wilmots’ side at Euro 2016 and is now on the cusp of joining Everton after being convinced by the project taking shape under new manager Ronald Koeman.
