Galatasaray want Arsenal forward Welbeck

Danny Welbeck will be offered the chance to join Turkish giants Galatasaray in the summer, claims The Daily Mirror.

The England international has just started his recovery from a serious ankle injury that required surgery and may have played his last Arsenal game already.

Welbeck’s current Arsenal deal is due to expire at the end of the season and Unai Emery has opted against extending his stay.

After handing out huge deals to a number of players this year, Arsenal are keen to trim their wage bill and Welbeck will follow Aaron Ramsey out of the club on frees in the summer.

Welbeck will not be short of offers in England but foreign clubs will have a headstart, as they are free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the 28-year-old from next month.

Galatasaray are on the market for a new striker after failing to replace former Marseille striker Bafetimbi Gomis in the summer.

The defending Turkish Super Lig champions have paid a heavy price for their error in the summer and are currently sixth and five points off top spot following their 2-2 draw with bottom place Rizespor on Saturday.

Welbeck has only started one Premier League match this season but has been a regular in the Europa League, scoring twice from four starts.
