Alli to miss rest of the season

The Football Association have confirmed Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli will serve a three-match suspension after accepting a charge for violent conduct.

Alli, 20, was charged with violent conduct in the aftermath of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with West Brom on Monday after referee Mike Jones failed to spot the fiery midfielder punch Claudio Yacob midway through the first-half.

The England international, who was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year last weekend, has been instrumental in Spurs’ title challenge this season but he will now miss their remaining matches against Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle.

Alli to miss rest of the season

No player aged 21 and under has played a direct hand in more goals across Europe’s top five leagues this season than Alli (19 – 10 goals, nine assists), but he will need to improve upon his dribbling in the future. In fact, of players to have attempted at least 50 dribbles in the Premier League this season, Alli has the worst success rate (32.6%).
