De Bruyne makes decision on Manchester City future after ban success

Kevin De Bruyne will see out the remaining three years of his current Manchester City contract before weighing up his options, claims The Daily Telegraph.

The Belgium international's existing terms are not due to expire until the summer of 2023 but there has been some doubt about his future at City.

With the threat of a two-year European ban overhead, many speculated, including De Bruyne himself, he would not waste his peak remaining years at City if they were not in the Champions League.

However, City successfully overturned the ban on appeal on Monday morning and De Bruyne is now committed as ever to Pep Guardiola's side.

With David Silva leaving City at the end of the season, Guardiola has already challenged De Bruyne to step up and show his credentials as the club's next captain.

De Bruyne, who recently turned 29, has been in sparkling form for City this season after missing almost all of the last campaign through injury.

The City midfielder is the highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League this season (7.88).

De Bruyne has played a direct hand in 29 goals in the Premier League this season, one more than Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah.
