Man Utd hoping to beat off competition for Brazilian teenager
Manchester United are looking to beat the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus to the signing of Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron, reports Sport via Sport Witness.
Barcelona are believed to be favourites to land Veron, but with the presidential elections still yet to take place, off field matters have complicated any possible deal.
As such, Manchester United and Manchester City are working hard in order to try and convince the teenager to swap Brazil for England.
The Premier League pair would face competition from Juventus for the 18-year-old, who has four goals and one assist in the Brasileirao this season.
Veron currently has a €60m release clause in his contract with Palmeiras, who have tied the youngster down until 2025.
However, interested parties believe they can negotiate that fee down to €20m, making Veron an affordable option in the current climate.
Of those to have 10 or more shots in the Brasileirao this season, Veron's conversion rate of 33.3% is the third best in the league.
