Chelsea have confirmed they have parted ways with manager Jose Mourinho through 'mutual consent'.
The reigning Premier League champions are only one point above the bottom three after losing nine of their opening 16 matches.
Mourinho, only put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at the start of the season after leading Chelsea to their fifth league title six months ago.
The 52-year-old was into the third-year of his second stint in charge of Chelsea and had looked set to be there long-term as they looked to shift the perception of the club.
However, poor results have determined his sacking, with the likes of Juande Ramos and Guus Hiddink in line to take control for the remainder of the season.
Mourinho’s air of invincibility at home has been one of the most notable changes this season. In fact, the former Real Madrid manager has lost as many home league games this season as he had done in his whole managerial career combined (4).
