‘I’m happy at Ajax’ - Cillessen

Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has admitted he is happy at the Dutch side, despite renewed interest from Manchester United.

The Netherlands number one has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for David de Gea.

De Gea reportedly remains high on Real Madrid’s wish list, despite their recent capture of Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla.

And Cillessen, who impressed under Louis van Gaal for the Dutch national team at the 2014 World Cup, insists he has no intention to leave Ajax.

"I'm very happy here [at Ajax]," he said.

"I have only heard the rumours so I don't worry about it until I hear something from my agent. If I don't hear something from my agent, I enjoy playing at Ajax. I ask my agent, who also is Memphis Depay's, and he says we don't know anything."

The 26-year-old, though, was quick to acknowledge it is a compliment to be linked with the 2012/13 Premier League champions, adding: "Of course, it's a great club, Manchester United, but I cannot do anything with rumours."

While the Eredivisie giants are keen to retain Cillessen’s services, head coach Frank de Boer revealed his concern over any potential bid for the goalkeeper from United.

"For us it would be a disaster if that's going to happen because it's already very difficult to find a good goalkeeper, especially if you have the best goalkeeper in Holland," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"We want to keep him and he wants to stay, but if Manchester United come with a bag of money it can be difficult.

"We have to wait but the transfer period still has a long way to go."

Cillessen impressed for Ajax last season, with his save success rate (82.1%) the best of all goalkeepers to make at least 5 appearances in the Eredivisie.
