Leicester’s club-record signing subject to mega China offer
Leicester City face a fight to keep club-record signing Islam Slimani with Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian ready to pay £40m for the striker, reports The Daily Mirror.
Slimani, 28, only joined Leicester in the summer in a blockbuster £30m deal from Portuguese giants Sporting and is now subject to interest from the Far East after Tianjin missed out on signing Chelsea star Diego Costa.
No formal offer has been made by Slimani’s representatives are aware of interest from Fabio Cannavaro’s side and understand a potential move could see the Algeria international pocket up to £400,000-a-week.
Slimani has struggled to make any serious impact on the Premier League but was signed to help Claudio Ranieri’s side in the Champions League and he has contributed to their progress into the knockout stages of the competition but is now due to hold talks with the Foxes when he returns from Africa Cup of Nations duty.
Only Michail Antonio (6) and Salomon Rondon (5) have scored more headed goals in the Premier League than Slimani (4) this season.
