Juventus target wants to stay at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva insists he wants to stay at the club amid speculation linking him with a move to Juventus.

Silva, 32, has entered the final year of his existing deal and no talks have taken place about extending his stay since the summer.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has already revealed the Serie A champions are interested in signing the Brazilian centre-back next summer, but Silva is adamant he wants to stay with PSG beyond this season.

“We started talking last year, at the end of the season and afterwards this summer I do not know why [talks stopped],” Silva told Canal +, via Get French Football.

“But I am happy, I am happy here. I want to stay and extend my contract but we need to speak with the president to see what we will do for the future.”

Silva has been regarded as one of the best defenders in the world since making a €42m move from AC Milan in 2012. Juventus has previous in this department, having secured the services of Andrea Pirlo on a free transfer in 2011 most notably before re-establishing their dominance in Italy.

Of players to have started at least 25 Ligue 1 matches in the last five seasons only Alex (93.3%) has a higher pass success rate than Silva (92.6%).
