PSV have accepted a bid in the region of £14.5m from Newcastle United for attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
Steve McClaren's outfit appear to have beaten off competition for the 24-year-old, with Everton also among those interested in the Netherlands international's signature.
Wijnaldum scored 14 goals in PSV’s championship winning Eredivisie side last season, representing 15 per cent of the Dutch side's output in the league and the midfielder is now on his way to St. James’ Park to complete the deal, PSV have confirmed.
"Georginio Wijnaldum is on his way to England to reach a personal agreement there with Newcastle United," Marcel Brand said in a statement.
McClaren had pledged the club would be recruiting players that have the "wow" factor this summer, with Aleksandar Mitrović and Charlie Austin also on the club’s radar.
