Arsenal have confirmed Mathieu Debuchy has joined Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season.
Debuchy, 30, has been heavily linked with a move to host of Premier League clubs this month as he looks to resurrect his ambition of featuring for France at the Euro’s in the summer.
Aston Villa had been in pole position for much of the month, but their move collapsed around the same time Manchester United emerged as surprise candidates to take the France international off Arsenal’s hands.
However, Arsenal have now confirmed the right-back has returned to France on loan until the end of the season.
The former Newcastle United defender was omitted from the squad that faced Burnley in the FA Cup on Saturday and played competitively since the end of November in the Champions League, where he only got off the bench for the final eight minutes against Dinamo Zagreb.
