Atletico Madrid have announced Thomas Partey has put pen to paper on a new five-and-a-half-year deal running until the summer of 2023.
Partey has spent the last seven years at Atletico after joining the club’s academy in 2011 and Diego Simeone’s side have moved to secure the versatile midfielder’s long-term future.
The Ghana international has developed into an integral player for Diego Simeone this season and his new deal reflects his growing importance at Atletico.
“For me, it’s an hour to play for this club,” Partey told the club’s official website.
The 24-year-old, who can play right-back and in central midfield, has made 24 appearances in La Liga this season and even weighed in with three goals.
Of players that have attempted at least 25 dribbles in La Liga this season, only Stanislav Lobotka (87.8%) and Geoffrey Kondogbia (85.7%) has a better success rate than Partey (84.4%).
