Stoke made a €20m (£17m) offer for Borussia Dortmund central midfielder Christian Pulisic before Liverpool, according to Bild, via Get German Football.
Pulisic, 17, is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects coming out of the Bundesliga at the moment having already been capped at senior level for the United States and has also recieved an £11m bid from Liverpool.
Mark Hughes is desperate to add quality to his Stoke side before the transfer window closes on Wednesday and has even tried his arm at prizing the midfielder from the Bundesliga giants.
The exciting teenage prospect scored two goals in nine appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season.
