Toffees remain firm on Stones asking price

Everton will insist that Manchester City fork out £50m to sign in-demand centre-back John Stones, reports Sky Sports.

The England international has been strongly linked with a move to City this summer, with manager Pep Guardiola a fan of Stones.

The two teams have been in talks for several weeks over the defender, but are yet to come to an agreement over the 22-year-old's future.

City had been hoping to negotiate a lower fee for Stones, but the Toffees are now remaining firm on their £50m asking price for the player.

Stones, while telling the Everton board of his intention to leave, has still trained with the Toffees first team and turned out for Ronald Koeman's side in Wayne Rooney's testimonial against Manchester United earlier this week.
