Zaha considers change of international allegiance

Wilfried Zaha is considering giving up on an international call-up with England to turn out for the Ivory Coast, according to The Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been in contention in an England squad since making his second and last appearance for the senior squad against Scotland in August 2013.

Zaha has repeatedly been overlooked and is even below Crystal Palace teammate Andros Townsend in the pecking order at the moment, despite arguably being the more impressive of the two this season.

Now, the former Manchester United winger is seriously considering changing allegiances to represent his birthplace, the Ivory Coast. Even though Zaha has already been capped by England, neither of those caps came in competitive matches leaving the Palace star to be called up by the Elephants.

However, any change would be made after the Africa Cup of Nations, which would rule Zaha out for almost a month at the start of next year.

Since the start of last season Zaha has completed at least 21 more dribbles than any other player in the Premier League (181). Furthermore, only Alexis Sanchez (8.40) has a higher rating in the Premier League away from home this season than Zaha (8.09).
