Real Madrid are no longer interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to Marca.
The La Liga giants’ move for the Spain international collapsed on deadline day last summer but there had been expectations that they would renew their interest in De Gea at the end of the season.
De Gea, 25, signed a new long-term deal with United at the start of the season but reportedly had a £30m release clause inserted into his contract to keep the dream of moving to Madrid alive.
However, the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper may now have to remain at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future after Madrid have reportedly abandoned their pursuit in favour of sticking with fan favourite Keylor Navas.
Navas is the highest rated goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues this season and has been largely credited with bailing Madrid out on a number of occasions this season (7.15 rating).
