Bruce closing in on vacant Villa post

Steve Bruce will be formally interviewed for the Aston Villa job in the next 48 hours, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The former Birmingham City manager has been out of work since resigning as Hull boss before the start of the season and has heavily linked with the vacant Villa post since the Championship outfit sacked Roberto Di Matteo last week.

Bruce’s potential appointment isn’t expected to go down well with the Villa fans, who reacted furiously when former Birmingham manager Alex McLeish was made manager in 2011.

The 55-year-old finished his four-year tenure at Hull with a win success rate of 42.3%, which included promotion from the Championship last season.
