Ajax demand €55m for Real Madrid target

Ajax have told Real Madrid it will require an offer of €55m (£49m) to sign Donny van de Beek this summer, reports MARCA.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane desperately wants to complete his summer spending spree with a new central midfielder.

The Spanish giants have struggled to get deals over the line for Premier League duo Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen and are now sounding out Van de Beek.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an eye-catching breakthrough campaign for Ajax last season and has also been linked with a summer move to Tottenham.

Ajax, however, are under no pressure to sell Van de Beek having already sold Frankie de Jong to Barcelona in a deal worth £65m.

The Dutch champions are also set to make in the region of £67m on captain Matthijs de Ligt and will demand top money from any club looking to poach any more of their players.

Madrid are reportedly willing to go as high as €50m (£45m) for Van de Beek but Ajax will not listen to any offers less than €55m (£49m).

Van de Beek played a direct hand in 19 goals in 34 league appearances for Ajax last season and scored in Champions League knockout ties against both Tottenham and Juventus.
