Liverpool had a €30m (£22.7m) bid rejected by Inter for captain Mauro Icardi on deadline day, according to Corriere della Sera.
Icardi, 23, has been dropped in big games in recent weeks and has reportedly fallen out of favour with head coach Roberto Mancini as a result.
There had been suggestions Inter were willing to listen to offers for their captain, but they reportedly rejected Liverpool’s late attempts to sign him.
Since the start of last season, only Gonzalo Higuain (40) has scored more goals than Icardi in Serie A (30).
