Real Madrid willing to wait for Eriksen on free transfer
Real Madrid plan to bid for Tottenham creator Christian Eriksen this summer but will not be held to ransom by the Premier League outfit, claims The Sun.
Eriksen will only have 12 months left to run on his existing Tottenham deal this summer and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to make a breakthrough in talks.
The Denmark international has been earmarked as a top transfer target by Madrid, as Zinedine Zidane plots a mass squad overhaul at the end of the season.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and will demand Madrid may over the odds to sign Eriksen in the next few months.
Despite the fact this summer represents the last opportunity Tottenham will have to command a sizeable fee for Eriksen if he does not renew his contract, they could miss out entirely.
While Madrid are keen to sign the 27-year-old as soon as possible, Zidane’s side are willing to wait until the following summer when Eriksen will be a free agent.
Since August 2016, Eriksen has provided the most assists in the Premier League (37), one more than Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne
