Newcastle have announced Tim Krul has extended his contract before securing a season-long loan move to Ajax.
Krul, 28, has been sidelined since October with a cruciate ligament injury but is nearing a return to first-team action.
The Netherlands international has agreed to sign a new one-year contract extension keeping him at Newcastle until 2018 before joining Ajax to replace Jasper Cillessen, who left for Barcelona on Thursday.
In the last seven Premier League seasons no goalkeeper has registered more assists than Krul (2).
