Liverpool midfielder James Milner has withdrawn from the England squad for their upcoming friendlies against Spain and France with a hamstring injury.
England head coach Roy Hodgson will not call up a replacement for the Liverpool vice-captain, who missed their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend with the muscle complaint.
Milner, 29, featured six times during England’s 100 per cent qualification process and his absence makes it even more likely that Spurs duo Dele Ali and Eric Dier will be handed their first international starts.
No English player has created more chances than Milner in the Premier League this season (27).
