Juventus leave experienced defender out of Champions League squad
Juventus have left defender Stephan Lichtsteiner out of their Champions League squad amid claims the left-back tried to force through a move away this summer.
The Serie A champions submitted their squad for the upcoming Champions League campaign to UEFA on Thursday with Lichtsteiner’s name absent from Max Allegri’s choices.
Lichtsteiner, 32, reportedly tried to force a move away from the Italian giants in the last few days of the transfer window, although they are reports the veteran defender has refuted.
However, the Switzerland international’s absence from their Champions League squad would suggest those reports have some credibility.
No current Juventus player has registered more assists in the last six Serie A campaigns than Lichtsteiner (18).
