Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been suspended for a massive eight Chinese Super League matches.
The Brazil international kicked the ball violently and deliberately against two Guangzhou R&F players in Shanghai SIPG’s 1-1 draw with their Chinese counterparts.
The two separate incidents sparked a mass brawl and while Oscar avoided a sending off the match, the Chinese Football Association have taken retrospective action and suspended the 25-year-old for eight league matches, while also fining the player $5,000.
“Oscar’s immoral foul, which sparked a massive bust-up on the pitch, has had a huge negative impact on China’s professional football leagues,” read a statement by the CFA via Goal.com.
“The CFA alway attaches great importance to the issue of discipline, taking great pains to root out the violent fouls and other unsportsmanlike behaviour.
“Hopefully disciplinary offences would be severely punished by all clubs and efforts shall be made to maintain the order of the games and protect the development of football.”
Oscar has made 13 starts for Shanghai SIPG this season, registering seven assists to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.69.
