Crystal Palace emerge as shock suitors for Juventus veteran

Crystal Palace are in shock talks to sign Juventus defender Patrice Evra, reports The Guardian.

Evra, 35, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A champions this month after dropping below Alex Sandro in the pecking order for the starting spot at left wing-back.

A return to Manchester United has been mooted, and while Evra would jump at the chance to return to Old Trafford, there isn’t any serious interest from the part of the Premier League giants.

Evra has also been linked with a move to Valencia, but Palace have now emerged as surprise suitors of the experienced defender as Sam Allardyce looks to strengthen their squad this month ahead of their bid to beat the drop.

Palace are willing to offer Evra an 18-month deal to switch the Serie A leaders for a relegation battle in the Premier League. Evra has only featured in six league matches this season, while he started in all six of their Champions League matches during the group stages.
