Arsenal veteran frustrated by lack of opportunities

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been handed his latest headache with news Petr Cech is growing increasingly frustrated of being dropped for the club’s Champions League matches, reports The Daily Mirror.

Cech, 34, is Arsenal’s undisputed No.1 goalkeeper between the sticks but Wenger has dropped the former Chelsea goalkeeper for the Champions League this season in order to honour a promise he gave to David Ospina at the start of the season.

It comes as particularly poor timing for the Arsenal manager, who has also been forced to deny Alexis Sanchez stormed out of training last week and that was the real reason why he was dropped to the bench for their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

Arsenal were thumped 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League and Ospina is expected to return between the sticks for the return leg on Tuesday night.

A save success rate of 63.3% for Ospina in the Champions League this season is one of the worst returns in the competition of goalkeepers to have made at least four appearances.
