Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is interested in prising Samuel Umtiti away from Barcelona, claims L’Equipe.
Pep Guardiola still wants to sign another centre-back after missing out on Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool and has now earmarked Umtiti as a potential target.
Reports have even emerged from France claiming City have sounded out Umtiti’s representatives to lay out their project to the defender.
The 24-year-old has been immense for Barcelona this season and the La Liga giants and worried about the €60m (£53.1m) release clause in his current deal.
City could face stiff competition from rivals Manchester United, who have also been linked with a move for the France international.
Of players that have made more than 10 appearances in La Liga this season, only Aissa Mandi (92.3%) has a better pass success rate than Umtiti (92.2%).
