Chelsea youngster hits out at loan system

Bertrand Traore has hit out at Chelsea’s loan system and says youngsters do not get a chance at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old made 10 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea towards the end of last season before being loaned out to Dutch giants Ajax during the summer.

Traore, who previously excelled in Holland on loan at Vitesse with 14 league goals in 33 appearances, admits he was baffled when he found out he would be leaving the club once more.

“I felt, and feel, that I am ready for Chelsea,” Traore told the London Evening Standard. “I don’t see the loan [picture] overall. Why did I play so much in pre-season?

“Why was I allowed to participate so often under Guus Hiddink [last season]? Why do young players get no real chance at Chelsea?

“It’s good for the composition of the squad if it is also home to a couple of talented youngsters.”

Traore has been an ever-present in the Ajax team since joining over the summer, having started in nine of their 11 league games thus far. With two goals to his name, only two players have completed more dribbles in the Dutch top-flight this season than Traore (31).
