Mario Balotelli has joined home town club Brescia, the newly promoted Serie A outfit has announced.
Balotelli has been a free agent since being released by Marseille at the end of last season and has penned a three-year deal with Brescia.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Flamengo but the Brazilian side ended their interest due to Balotelli’s financial demands.
Balotelli has instead opted to return to Italy and join Brescia ahead of their first Serie A campaign in eight years.
The Italy international has never spent more than three years at one club in his entire career.
Despite the baggage Balotelli comes with, the former Manchester City forward has been a consistent goalscorer in the last three seasons.
Balotelli has scored 39 goals in 76 league appearances since August 2016 and a rate of every 146.8 minutes of action.
