Manchester United outcast hoping for MLS move

Sergio Romero is hoping to escape his Manchester United hell by securing a move stateside to MLS, claims The Daily Mail.

The Agrentina international is now third choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford after Dean Henderson's return and has been left out of United's Champions League squad.

Romero's wife hit out at the club for pricing her husband out of a move away from United before Monday's deadline for European clubs.

Everton were interested in signing Romero before eventually landing Robin Olsen on loan from Roma.

Romero's future is in limbo after potential suitors were put off by his £10m asking price and big wages.

The 33-year-old has no future at Old Trafford and could still secure a move away this month with the transfer window in MLS open until October 29.

Romero has established himself as one of the best back-up goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining United five years ago during Louis van Gaal's time at the club.

The United veteran has impressive kept 35 clean sheets in 57 appearances in all competitions in that time.
