Juventus have been served a double injury blow with both Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci set for long spells on the sidelines through injury.
Max Allegri’s side slipped a shock 3-1 defeat away to Genoa at the weekend, in which they not only conceded three goals in a league match for the first time since October 2013 (vs Fiorentina), but also saw their lead at the top of Serie A cut to four points.
However, it came at an even greater cost as Juventus saw Bonucci limp off in the first half with a thigh injury, before Alves was stretchered off before the game finished when Allegri had already used all of his substitutes.
Juventus have since confirmed that Alves fractured the fibula bone in his left leg following a heavy collision with Lucas Ocampos, meaning the former Barcelona right-back will be sidelined for months.
Alves, 33, has been in fine form for Juventus since switching from Barcelona on a free during the summer. His time on the sidelines means Allegri may be forced to include Stephan Lichtsteiner in their Champions League squad for the knockout stage of the competition next year.
The Brazil international has scored as many goals in 13 league and European appearances with Juventus this season as he managed in his last 82 league and Champions League appearances with Barcelona (2).
