Roma’s €13m bid for Monaco defender rejected

Roma have failed with a €13m (£11.5m) bid for Monaco centre-back Jemerson and been told he is not for sale at any price this summer, claims France Football.

The Serie A giants are preparing for the departure of Antonio Rudiger after accepting a £34m bid from Chelea and sporting director Monchi is now looking to find his replacement.

Monchi has already been very active in the transfer market after becoming the club’s new sporting director at the end of last season but appears to have lucked out in his pursuit of the Monaco defender.

Jemerson, 24, only joined Monaco from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in January 2016 but made a seamless transition into the first-team last season and helped lead the club to their first league title since 2000.

Monaco are being picked apart by their European rivals following their stunning success but Jemerson is one player they have no interest in letting go.

No outfielder attempted more long balls in Ligue 1 for Monaco last season than the Brazilian defender (147).
