Manchester City on verge of signing Sane replacement

Manchester City are on the brink of landing Valencia starlet Ferran Torres, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Torres has entered the final 12 months of his current Valencia contract and City believe they have agreed an initial £20.9m fee.

Valencia are keen to offload Torres in order to help ease their finanical problems and Pep Guardiola's side are closing in on a cut-price deal for the 20-year-old.

City have identified Torres as a top transfer target following Leroy Sane's departure to Bayern Munich and are confident they have fended off interest from a variety of Europe's elite sides.

Torres is regarded as a standout Spanish prospect and was one of few positives for Valencia this season, as Los Che slumped to a ninth-place finish in LaLiga.

City are expected to spend heavily this summer in a bid to close the gap on Premier League champions Liverpool and hope Torres is the first through the door.

This season was Torres' first full campaign and he finished it with four goals and five assists in 34 league appearances.

The Valencia starlet is predominantly a right winger and will provide competition for places with Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva next season.
