Chelsea to offer new deal to Manchester United target

Chelsea are keen to resolve Cesc Fabregas’ long-term future and will look to reward the midfielder with a new contract amid interest from Manchester United, reports The Times.

Fabregas has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford at various stages of his career and now the whispers are back with Jose Mourinho keen to reunite with the Spain international.

The 30-year-old has 18 months left to run on his existing Chelsea deal but Fabregas has reportedly been given assurances by Antonio Conte that he is still an integral part of his plans despite the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater over the summer.

Chelsea only hand players aged over 30 rolling one-year deals but they may have to break policy in order to convince someone as important as Fabregas to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

United are keen to bolster their midfield options again at the end of the season and Mourinho is reportedly interested in another raid of his former club after prising Nemanja Matic away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Of players that have started at least 10 Premier League matches since the start of last season, only one player requires fewer minutes per key pass than Fabregas (1 every 23.3 minutes of action).
