Chelsea line up England international as Kepa replacement

Frank Lampard is pondering a move for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope due to reservations over Chelsea's club-record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, claims The Dail Mail.

Chelsea forked out £72m to sign Kepa from Athletic Club in the summer of 2018 but the Spain international has been a relative disappointment at the club.

Despite usurping David de Gea as Spain's No.1, Kepa has done nothing to suggest he is the best goalkeeper in the world at Chelsea.

Lampard is even exploring replacing the 25-year-old at the end of the season and has earmarked Pope as a potential target.

The fact Pope would also boost Chelsea's homegrown quota is also hugely appealing to the Blues.

Burnley are in no rush to cash in on Pope as the 27-year-old is effectively tied down until the summer of 2024.

Of goalkeepers that have made more than 10 appearances in the Premier League this season, Kepa has the worst save success rate in the division (56.2%).
